From Paschimpathri, Porapara and Pariapara Village Units

Paschimpathri, Porapara Village Unit

This month, the Paschimpathri, Porapara village units continued with their initiative of teaching various subjects like English, Mathematics and Biology to the children in the school. A drawing class was also arranged for the students. They also have done ground work to start a program for basic computer training.

The unit carried on providing handicraft training to the village women. The program is being conducted under the supervision of local women who also provide training to people in other villages, while the raw material is supplied by the NSS volunteers.

The Unit went around on a basic survey about the literacy level and economic situations of the people. They got to know that 80% of children go to school, that sanitation is a major problem, and that most villagers do not have caste certificates.

The group has taken great interest in helping the school children with cultural activities, besides the basic education.  After finding out that most of the school children do not have  basic footwear, they have taken an initiative to donate old footwear to them, having taken the sizes of their feet.
